Six Lynchburg student-athletes earn Academic All-State honor

Ashland, Va. -- Six University of Lynchburg seniors were honored Monday morning by the Virginia Sports Information Directors on the 2017-18 VaSID Academic All-State Team, the organization announced.

Equestrian's CarolAnne Bekus (Hillsborough, N.J.), men's golf's Josh Irby (Clover, Va.), men's lacrosse's Colin McGuire (Odenton, Md.), women's lacrosse's Dorrie MacGregor (Centreville, Md.), softball's MacKenzie Mount (Forest, Va.), and women's soccer's Emily Maxwell (Quantico, Va.) made up the Lynchburg contingent on the squad, which totaled 217 student-athletes from 37 institutions across the Commonwealth.

To be eligible for the VaSIDA Academic All-State Team, student-athletes must have a 3.25-or-higher cumulative GPA and be a sophomore or higher.
