Lynchburg, Va. -- A big weekend in the throwing events earned Lynchburg College men's track & field's Dalton Hoppe the honor of Hornet of the Week.

The junior from Buchanan, Va., dominated the competition at the Randolph WildCat Invitational, winning both the hammer throw and the discus to account for a pair of Lynchburg's nine event victories. He was also fourth in the shot put and javelin at the meet.

Hoppe's season-best hammer throw of 45.39 meters to claim the second-best throw this year in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. He heaved the discus 40.74m, also a season-long, to win that event and claim the league's fourth-best mark of the season. Hoppe also ranks third in the javelin in the conference's top marks.

Hoppe and the Hornets will head to Bridgewater this weekend for the ODAC Outdoor Championships.
