Equestrian ties for fourth at UVa IHSA

Charlottesville, Va. -- The Lynchburg College equestrian team traveled to the University of Virginia Saturday for their second IHSA show of the semester. At the end of the day, the Hornets earned 28 points, finishing in a tie with Randolph College for fourth overall.

Burke Kelleher (Lynchburg, Va.) brought in the only win of the day for the Hornets, with a strong ride in Novice Fences. In addition, Kelleher competed in Novice Flat, finishing fourth. Dani Herzberg (Beachwood, Ohio) also rode in Novice Flat, pinning in fourth.

Paige Gaut (Spotsylvania, Va.) started out the day in the Walk/Trot division, riding to fourth place. Julia Cavagna (Stafford, Va.) and Lauren Barbee (Mebane, N.C.) followed up in the Walk/Trot/Canter division, pinning second and third respectively.

CarolAnne Bekus (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Herzberg competed in the Intermediate division. Bekus earned a fourth over fences and Herzberg finished third. Bekus also represented the Hornets in Intermediate Flat, finishing in fifth. To finish up the day, Christina Antonucci (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) earned a third-place finish in Open Fences.
