Equestrian ties for third at Lynchburg IHSA

Amherst, Va. -- Lynchburg College's equestrian team delivered their best performance yet this season, finishing tied for third after successfully hosting their first home show. The team brought in 29 points to tie with Hollins University. The University of Virginia emerged on top with 36 points, with Randolph following close behind with 34.

Julia Cavagna (Stafford, Va.) brought in a huge win for the Hornets in Walk/Trot/Canter, adding seven points to the team's total. Gina Romano (Chester, N.J.) and Burke Kelleher (Lynchburg, Va.) also had great results, both earning second place finishes in Novice Over Fences in their respective sections. CarolAnne Bekus (Hillsborough, N.J.) also brought in a second place finish while competing in Intermediate Flat. The day ended on a great note with Erika Hadland (Moseley, Va.) competing in Walk/Trot and finishing in second.

Christina Antonucci (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) competed in Open Flat and Open Fences, finishing fifth and fourth, respectively. Dani Herzberg (Beachwood, Ohio) earned two fifth-place finishes, one in Intermediate Fences and one in Novice Flat. Katy Riechers (McLean, Va.) made her debut competing for the Hornets, finishing reserve in novice flat, and Brooke Lindgren (Richmond, Va.) competed in Walk/Trot/Canter, finishing in fifth.

This wraps up the Lynchburg College Equestrian Team's fall season, the Hornets will start up again in February when they travel to Randolph College.
