Lynchburg, Va. -- Lynchburg College's field hockey team celebrated their Senior Day with a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over Randolph-Macon on Shellenberger Field Saturday evening.
Nikki Simpao (Stafford, Va.) led the Hornets with four goals. Simpao is currently leading the ODAC in assists (13), points (59), shots (115), and is tied with fellow Hornet Jackie Lerro (Royersford, Pa.) in goals (23).
The Hornets are hot with an eight game winning streak and collected their fifith shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets struck first, when Lerro weaved her way through multiple Randolph-Macon defenders to give Lynchburg the lead, seven minutes into the match.
- Simpao recorded three straight goals for the Hornets in a span of 18 minutes, with two of them coming out of the gates of halftime to give Lyncburg a comfortable 5-0 lead. She was assisted by Hannah Krause (Lewes, Del.) in the first half and Karissa LeMaire (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) and Emma Strouse (Dillsburg, Pa.) in the second half.
- The Hornets kept rolling as they dominated possession and shots throughout the entire second half. Six of the nine goals Lynchburg scored came in the second half, as LeMaire scored her Senior Day goal with five minutes left in the game.
- Freshman goalie Laurel Nicks (Yorktown, Va.) made two saves throughout the game to preserve the shutout.
The Hornets will travel to Salem to take on the Roanoke Maroons on October 25 at 7 p.m. The Maroons currently hold third place in the ODAC standings.
