With a mix of returners and newcomers contributing to the effort, the Hornets fought hard and held off a late charge by Johns Hopkins for their third-straight victory in a season opener, 67-61. Newcomer sophomore Connor Schroeder impressed in his first night in a Lynchburg jersey, recording 23 points and nine rebounds in 33 minutes on the court, including four straight threes in the first half. In the second half, senior Jay Allen helped power the Hornets production, scoring 14 of his 18 points and going 4-5 from beyond the arc. Despite the Blue Jays outscoring the Hornets in the paint (34-18), Lynchburg held the advantage in rebounds 50-44.
