Men's basketball storms by Green Terror

Westminster, Md. -- Four Lynchburg College men's basketball players reached double-figure scoring as the Hornets cruised by host McDaniel, 78-68, in Saturday evening's season-opener.

Junior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) dumped in a career-high 22 points to go with eight rebounds and six steals to pave the way. Sophomore guard Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.) also reached a career-high with 17 points, going 8-for-8 from the free throw stripe.

Connor Schroeder (Blacksburg, Va.) and Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) both reached the double-digit plateau as well, scoring 13 and 10 points apiece.

- Lynchburg steadily built a six-point lead at halftime, 33-27, as Schroeder scored all 13 of his points before the break.

- Wrighten baskets bookended a 9-0 LC run early in the second half that broke the game open, and the Hornets' lead never fell below nine points again in the game.

- Greene and Wrighten each scored 13 second-half points to help the offense keep the lead intact.



Lynchburg will remain in the Old Line State overnight before traveling to St. Mary's City, Md. on Sunday for a matchup with St. Mary's College of Maryland. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
