Scott Zaring rejoins the Lynchburg men's soccer staff for 2017, coming home to Lynchburg from Widener University in Chester, Pa., where he was assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Pride.
A Lynchburg alumnus, Zaring played at Randolph College, Southern Virginia University, and finally for the Hornets. A goalkeeper on that team, he helped the Hornets to an ODAC championship and a berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2014.
Zaring has assisted the Jefferson Forest High School boys' soccer team on three different occasions, bearing a record of 62-6-3 and most notably helping the Cavaliers capture the 2011 VHSL Group AA state championship. He will take over as head coach of that program this coming spring. He also served as an assistant for coach Chris Yeager's 2015 Lynchburg men's squad.
He has also coached junior teams for FC Richmond and Central Virginia United. He is also a USSF E and D licensed coach.
