Forest, Va. -- It didn't take long for Azavier Kirtley to burst into the Old Dominion Athletic Conference spotlight.

The Lynchburg College freshman was named the league's men's track athlete of the week following an impressive start to his collegiate career last weekend at Roanoke's Bast-Cregger Indoor Invitational.

Kirtley, a Roanoke, Va. native, won the 200-meter dash (20.36 seconds) by more than two-tenths of a second in his NCAA debut and followed that win with a second-place showing in the 400 (50.32).

Lynchburg's teams competed against numerous scholarship programs in the unscored meet.
