Bethlehem, Pa. -- The Men and Women's Cross Country teams turned in strong performances at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on Saturday afternoon.
For the men, senior Andrew Osborne led the way finishing the 8K in 25:33 with fellow senior Drew Smith only a few second behind at 25:51. The sophomore duo of Joshua Shaw and Tristan Lucy-Speidel followed with times of 26:03 and 26:21 respectively and freshman Justin Dorner-Thomas rounded out the Hornet scoring after crossing the finish line at 26:44. Other Lynchburg runners included senior Ben Stern (27:19) and junior Levi Rees (27:59).
The women finished top 20 in the 6K and the outstanding sophomore duo of Samantha Schreiber and Morgan Alvis collected top 20 finishes individually. Schreiber finished with a time of 22:36 while Alvis clocked in at 23:10. Junior Jenna Hyde followed up the duo with a time of 24:22 while freshman Michela Cholak and senior Camille McCarthy rounded out the Hornet scoring with respective times of 24:32 and 28:36.
Of the 12 Lynchburg runners that competed, 11 of them recorded personal records at the event. Osborne set a new PR by 19 seconds while Alvis broke her own PR by 50 seconds and Coach Jake Reed said that, "...she was already all-conference in two track events and to make a jump like that is really impressive."
Both teams are back in action Homecoming weekend when they travel to Oberlin, Ohio for the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College.
