LC Women Roll to 88-50 win over Salem
After a close first period, the Hornets rolled out to a 48-24 halftime edge with a dominating 25-5 second quarter. Sophomore Caroline Naumann had a double-double in the game's first 20 minutes with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Lynchburg extended the advantage to 37 after three periods (72-35) and went ahead by 40 in the fourth period.
The Hornets had 13 players get in the scoring column on the night. Junior guard Sarah Colonel filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three blocked shots. Charmaine Hairston tallied 11 points and Chaney Forbush added 10. Sammi Goldsmith contributed eight points, five rebounds and four assists while Molly Shephard also scored eight. LC enjoyed a 57-30 advantage in rebounding for the game.
Sabrina Shepherd led Salem (1-5) with 17 points, five rebounds and two blocks and Quntashea Lewis delivered 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Hornets (5-2/1-0) host Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday at 2 p.m. in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
