Big Second Half Lifts LC Women to 65-48 win at W&L
The game was tightly contested through the first two periods, and LC clung to a 25-24 edge at halftime. The game was later tied at 28 all, but a 10-0 run behind baskets from four different scorers gave the Hornets a double-figure lead. The Generals chipped away and trailed 45-39 with 8:42 remaining, but Lynchburg put the contest away with a 17-2 run, with 12 points coming from senior Chaney Forbush.
Forbush finished with a game-high 25 points, hitting 10 of 15 from the field and both three-point attempts, and snared seven rebounds. Junior guard Sarah Coronel netted 15 points while senior point guard Sammi Goldsmith distributed 10 assists to go with six points, four rebounds and four steals in 40 minutes of action. Caroline Naumann added 11 points and nine rebounds. Lynchburg had 18 assists on 24 baskets.
Jackie Clifford had 15 points and eight rebounds for Washington & Lee (10-7/5-3 ODAC). Emma Redding added 14 points and five boards.
Lynchburg (14-3/7-1 ODAC) travels to Guilford College (8-1 ODAC) Wednesday in a battle for first place in the conference standings.
