HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair that saw Lynchburg leading 16-12 after 10 minutes. Naumann scored all 10 of her points in the period.
- DeFrancesco carried the LC offense in the second period, matching the Battling Bishops' offensive output with nine points in the quarter. Lynchburg went into halftime with a 30-21 advantage.
- Shephard came out of intermission with the hot hand. The junior scored 21 points in the final 20 minutes of the game, making both of her 3-point attempts and at one point scoring nine straight.
- Lynchburg led by as many as 16 points early in the fourth quarter, but the Battling Bishops cut the lead to single digits down the stretch. The Hornets were able to make enough free throws in the waning minutes, however, and held off the threat.
The Hornets will break for exams and the holidays before returning to action just before the new year in Roanoke College's Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic. LC will play Meredith at 4 p.m. on Dec. 30 and Franklin & Marshall at noon the following day. Both games will take place in RC's Cregger Center.
