HOW IT HAPPENED
Lynchburg jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by junior midfielder Hannah Creasey (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Trevisan, but the Quakers rallied back to tie the game, 3-3, midway through the first half.
With the game tied 4-4 and 11 minutes to play in the opening half, LC ripped off a 4-0 run to take control of the game. LC led 9-6 at the break, Trevisan heading the charge with three goals and three assists in the first 30 minutes.
The Hornets ended all doubt in the second half, scoring nine of the first 11 goals in the period. Sandoval netted a hat trick in the half.
LC's defense also stepped up in the half as senior goalie Chelsea Shultis (Hurley, N.Y.) made 13 of her 14 saves after intermission. She and the Hornets D also stymied three Quaker free position shots.
Lynchburg will stay home over the weekend as they welcome ODAC rival Randolph-Macon to Shellenberger Field Saturday, April 21. The Hornets and Yellow Jackets will take the first draw at 7 p.m.
