Women's tennis topples Emory & Henry

Lynchburg, Va. -- Lynchburg College's women's tennis team continued one of the most successful seasons in program history Sunday afternoon with an 8-1 win over Emory & Henry in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

The Hornets now sport a 12-4 overall record, 8-1 in the ODAC, and have now won 10 of their last 12 matches.

After LC swept through the doubles portion of the match, sophomore Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) and freshman Madison Collins (Amherst, Va.) bookended the singles lineup with 6-0, 6-0 results at Nos. 1 and 6, respectively. Harris is now 14-0 at the top singles spot this season.

Harris paired with junior Sarah Wyly (Leesburg, Va.) for an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles, the pair improving to 6-0 at that spot this year. Wyly also won at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, 6-1.

At No. 2 singles, sophomore Halle Lavieri (Killingworth, Conn.) won, and freshman Ellen Druebbisch (Jamestown, N.C.) wound up on top at No. 4 singles.

LC enters the final week of regular-season play, starting Tuesday, April 24 with a trip to Randolph-Macon at 2 p.m.
