Lynchburg, Va. -- As part of the Vision 2020 Strategic Plan, which was approved by the Board of Trustees in the Fall, Lynchburg welcomes Ben Smith as a full time Director of Club Sports. Ben joins the athletic department staff after more than a decade in Recreation Leadership at Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia.
"Adding this position and someone as talented as Ben to a strong intramural program like the one that Steve Bradney has built shows our institutional commitment to student engagement" said Jon Waters , Director of Athletics. "Ben's leadership will not only provide the framework for existing club sport programs to thrive but also allow us to foster growth and exploration of programs that at some point in the future may be able to compete as varsity level teams. "
New Club Sport Director Ben Smith said, "I'm excited to work with Lynchburg students to help them represent Lynchburg on the regional and national level as we grow the program and continue to increase student engagement on campus. Club Sports continue to gain popularity nationwide and this position will help Lynchburg continue to remain competitive in the recruitment of exceptional students."
