Lynchburg, Va. -- Lynchburg College's equestrian program is proud to announce the addition of Jenn Tirrell to its coaching staff.
Tirrell, a 1996 alumna of Lynchburg, joins the staff as a riding instructor/coach for the 2017-18 year. She is the owner and trainer at Signature Stables in Keswick, Va., near Charlottesville, where she has coached riders to multiple state and zone awards.
"We are excited to add someone with Jenn's experience to our program to work with our students on a regular basis," Mimi Wroten, Lynchburg's director of riding, said. "Her unique perspective about all levels of the horse industry paired with her experiences as a student at Lynchburg will benefit our students in many ways as we continue to build our program."
She has extensive experience in the equestrian world, working previously as a trainer in Connecticut, New Jersey, Illinois, Kentucky, and Virginia. In 2015, Tirrell served as the United States Hunter Jumper Associations managing director of Hunter programs.
Tirrell has been as USHJA certified trainer since 2010.
The Lynchburg equestrian program is coming off of one of the most successful seasons in their history, with a third-place team finish in the ODAC Riding Championships and multiple qualifiers for IHSA Regionals. Returning rider Christina Antonucci finished eighth out of 38 qualifiers in the Cacchione Cup at the 2017 IHSA National Championships. The Hornets also claimed a fourth-place finish in the Novice division at the ANRC National Championships.
She will begin her duties at Lynchburg immediately.
