Bridgewater, Va. -- The Hornets racked up 30 points today at today's Bridgewater College/JMU IHSA show, leading to a fourth-place finish and their best performance of the spring season so far.
Dani Herzberg (Beachwood, Ohio) pointed out of Intermediate Fences, qualifying for regionals after her third-place finish today in Section A. The junior also finished second in Intermediate Flat.
Christina Antonucci (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) secured the win in Open Fences after putting in a solid round aboard Latin. She also finished second in Open Flat.
The Hornets picked up two more second-place finishes in Walk/Trot. Paige Gaut (Spotsylvania, Va.) and Erika Hadland (Moseley, Va.) both put in strong rides aboard Bridgewater's Romeo in their respective sections, bringing home a red ribbon each.
CarolAnne Bekus (Hillsborough, N.J.) also brought home a third in Intermediate Fences, piloting Raffa around in Section B. She also competed in Open Flat, finishing in fifth.
The Hornets had three other riders secure fifth place honors. Gina Romano (Chester, N.J.) in Novice Fences, Lauren Barbee (Mebane, N.C.) in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter Section A, and Maya Proctor (Fort Washington, Md.) in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter Section B.
Lynchburg also competed on Friday in an exhibition National Collegiate Equestrian Association show, defeating Delaware State on points. Next weekend the Hornets will host on their own turf with two IHSA shows remaining in the regular season.
