Amherst, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's National Collegiate Equestrian Association team fell, 6-1, Friday afternoon to SUNY New Paltz at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
Sophomore Taylor Herzog earned the lone point for the Hornets in just their second-ever official NCEA meet, posting a 79-point ride over fences atop Calvin to lead off the day. Herzog also earned a draw on the flat, meriting 74 points on Jakson to match the score of New Paltz's Camrun Duginski.
Freshman Lori Ohannessian posted Lynchburg's best score on the flat, a 76-point ride atop Reggie, but was bested by her counterpart New Paltz's Madeline Berg. Berg was the high-point rider of the day, scoring 81-point rides on both the flat and fences portions of the meet.
Lynchburg's NCEA team will be back in action Friday, Oct. 25 at Delaware State in search of their first NCEA-format win.
The Hornets' Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association team will begin the fall season soon as well, slated to compete at the Hollins IHSA in Roanoke Saturday, Oct. 12.
