Frederick, Md. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team dropped a 75-62 decision to Hood Saturday night in the championship game of the MMI Tip-Off Tournament despite three players reaching double digits in points.
The Hornets (1-1) saw senior Cody Lang, junior Tharon Suggs, and junior Reggie Davis all reach the double-figure scoring plateau. Davis put up 10 points, going 5-12 from the field, while Suggs scored 11. Davis shot 5-for-9 from the field and had 12 points off the bench for the Hornets.
Lynchburg went ahead early but did not lead for long as the Blazers (2-0) went ahead 31-20 with 3:36 left in the first half. Before the break, the Hornets cut the Hood lead down to nine and went into the locker room trailing, 39-30. Hood held the lead the entire second half.
Suggs and junior forward T.C. Thacker were named to the all-tournament team.
The Lynchburg men's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 13 as they travel to Rocky Mount N.C., to take on North Carolina Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
