Forest, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference bestowed its first women's swimmer of the week award on Lynchburg's Alyssa Reed, the league office announced Monday.
Reed, a graduate student, won both her individual events in Friday's season-opener for the new program, a dual-meet rout of crosstown rival Randolph. She took top honors in the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.25) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.16) to earn 18 points toward the Lynchburg cause.
The Forest product also led the Hornets to a strong performance in Saturday's exhibition meet with Liberty University.
Reed and the Hornets swim teams will be back in action October 12 at the ODAC Relays at Washington and Lee.
