Forest, Va. -- Following a fantastic weekend, University of Lynchburg freshman Parker Hayungs earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's men's swimmer of the week award, the league office announced Monday evening.
The Fredericksburg native helped Lynchburg to a meet victory in Saturday's home Lynchburg Invitational, setting three program records and helping the Hornet men to a quartet of event victories in the process.
He began the day with a record-breaking 200-yard freestyle (1:49.16), a mark that ranks fifth in the ODAC this season, and followed that with a win in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.03).
Hayungs proceded to take top honors in the 100-yard freestyle, setting another program record in the process, with a 50.84-second swim in the event.
He finished the afternoon with a strong anchor leg in the Hornets' winning 400-yard free relay, teaming with Canaan Monteith, Mason Swanner, and Jason Weed to post the ODAC's fourth-fastest time in the event this year (3:48.91).
His weekly award is the second for the Hornets this season, as Bennett also won the honor Sept. 30.
Hayungs and the Hornets sport a 6-1 dual-meet record this season and will now set their sights toward the Randolph-Macon Invitational, scheduled for Nov. 23-24 in Ashland.
