Greenwood, Ind. -- Two University of Lynchburg women's soccer players earned spots on the College Sports Information Directors' Google Cloud Academic All-District team, CoSIDA announced Thursday.
Senior defender Katie Waring (Chester, Va.) and senior goalkeeper Delia LoSapio (Raleigh, N.C.) were two of the 13 Division III District 5 honorees and are now eligible for Academic All-America awards, which will be voted upon by CoSIDA members and announced December 4.
LoSapio, a biomedical science major who carries a 3.92 cumulative GPA, has started every match in goal for the Hornets this season. She leads the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in goals-against average (0.6) and save percentage (.860) headed into NCAA tournament play. She earned the 2018-19 Sommerville Scholarship, Lynchburg's top undergraduate academic honor, and is completing minors in gender studies, health promotion, and history.
Waring has started every match this season at center back and carries a 3.93 cumulative GPA as a biomedical science and mathematics double-major. She was a first-team All-ODAC honoree and has tallied a goal and two assists this season.
Lynchburg's women's soccer team won the ODAC championship last weekend with a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan and will represent the conference in the NCAA Division III tournament this coming weekend. The Hornets will play host to Piedmont in first-round action Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.
