Lynchburg, Va. -- The 20th-ranked University of Lynchburg women's soccer team got two goals from senior forward Alyssa Rudy in Sunday's 3-0 victory over Kalamazoo.
The Hornets (3-1) scored early in the first half on Rudy's first goal of the day, a 19th-minute score assisted by Madalyn Amos.
Lynchburg put pressure on the Kalamazoo defense as they out-shot KC (0-3-2) 10-2 in the first half but the score remained 1-0 Lynchburg going into intermission.
Rudy and the Lynchburg offense continued to pressure the defense as she scored her second goal on an assist from sophomore Amanda Wigboldy in the 59th minute.
Freshman Alyssa Damato capped off the match late with an unassisted goal of her own sealing the 3-0 win for Lynchburg.
Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Dorsch made three saves on three shots on goal from the Kalamazoo offense. Lynchburg totaled 22 shots on the afternoon with 14 of them on target compared to only three shots on goal from Kalamazoo.
Lynchburg will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m., as they take on Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. The Hornets ousted Emory U. from the NCAA tournament a season ago, a 2-0 Hornets victory on Nov. 11, 2018.
