Greensboro, N.C.-- The Unversity of Lynchburg men's cross country team took home first place in the Division III bracket at the Greensboro invitational Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Connor McCroy was the Hornets' leading runner on the day as he ran a 29:20.1 in the 8k placing him 11th of 76 runners. Fellow freshman Sam Gunter had a top-20 finish in the 8k as he ran a 29:54.5 to cement him at 15th.
The Lynchburg men's team finished the meet as the overall winner out of the participating Division III schools while also finishing second overall for team scores behind North Carolina A & T.
On the women's side, Lynchburg saw both junior Kari Furrow and sophomore Claire Dowd take home top-30 finishes in the 5k as Furrow placed 26th with a time of 24:01.4 and Dowd finished close behind with a time of 24:08.0 to place 27th out of the 59-runner pool.
The University of Lynchburg cross country team will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 5 at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Invitational at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
