Hornets Run Past Emory & Henry 7-0

            LYNCHBURG, VA - Seven different players scored Wednesday evening as the Lynchburg College men's soccer team defeated Emory & Henry College 7-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

            Junior Shane Spanninger (pictured - Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) opened the scoring six minutes into the game, and assisted a Michael Abbonizio (Maple Glen, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) tally at 8:40 to open an early 2-0 lead. Donald Hart III (Springfield, VA/Paul VI) scored a goal from Joe Kaiser (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) just before halftime.

            Michael Venegas (Winchester, VA/Millbrook) scored off a corner kick from Tyler Romano (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) shortly after intermission and Benjamin Phelps (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) scored a minute later from Kaiser. Darien Cox (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) and Mustapha Dumbuya (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) both added late insurance goals.

            LC out-shot the Wasps 27-10 and held an 8-2 edge in corner kicks. Daniel Mills made nine saves for Emory & Henry (1-11-2/7-0-1 ODAC).

            Lynchburg (11-3-1/8-0 ODAC) travels to Randolph-Macon College Saturday for another ODAC game at 3 p.m.
