Lynchburg Men's Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry 2-1 in OT
LYNCHBURG, VA – Freshman Luke Moore and junior Mustapha Dumbuya each netted goals to help the Lynchburg College men's soccer team defeat Emory & Henry College 2-1 in overtime in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
Both teams went scoreless in the first half with Lynchburg outshooting the Wasps 8-5 in the period. Moore netted his third goal of the season to break the scoreless tie at 52:17 of the second half to put Lynchburg up 1-0.
Emory & Henry's PJ Henson scored at 70:48 to tie the game at 1-1. Lynchburg goalkeeper Michael Releford made a save on Henson at 89:13 to keep the game knotted at one.
In overtime, Dumbuya headed in a goal just 2:27 into the extra frame to give the Hornets the conference victory.
Releford finished with two saves for Lynchburg in the game while Emory & Henry's goalkeeper Justin Spencer made six saves. LC outshot the Wasps (4-10/1-7) 16-10 in the game.
Lynchburg (5-7-2/3-2-2) will host Washington & Lee University on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
