#13 Hornet Women's Soccer Tops Randolph-Macon 9-0
Dessi Dupuy Ties Single-Season School Record
ASHLAND, VA – Freshman forward Dessi Dupuy netted two scores to lead the 13th-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team to a 9-0 victory Wednesday at Randolph-Macon College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The two tallies gives Dupuy 25 on the season, tying the old school record set by Karen O'Conner in the 1997 campaign.
Lynchburg scored four times in the first half and five times in the second. Angela Bosco also scored two goals, and Joanie Snyder, Kathleen Szafranski and Kara Schaffer each had scores, and LC was aided by a pair of R-MC own goals. Katie Gebhard had an assist.
The Hornets out-shot the Yellow Jackets 22-0 and held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Hornets (14-2-1/9-0-1 ODAC) host Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday at 1:30 as a part of the Homecoming 2011 festivities. The program's five seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. With a win or tie, LC will clinch the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Championship Tournament.
