Lynchburg Men's Soccer Falls to Virginia Wesleyan 2-1
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Freshman Thomas Moran scored once but the Lynchburg College men's soccer team was unable to comeback against Virginia Wesleyan College on Tuesday night, falling by a score of 2-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
After going scoreless for over 60 minutes of play, Virginia Wesleyan took the lead with the first goal of the game at 62:48 off a header from Pops Richards. VWC added another goal less than five minutes later from Brian Cornell to extend the lead to 2-0.
Moran netted a goal at 76:59 to put the Hornets on the board, but Lynchburg could not comeback and fell by a final of 2-1.
Sophomore Michael Releford made three saves in the game, while Ryan Zmuda made three saves for the Marlins (6-10-1/4-10 ODAC).
The Hornets (5-8-4/3-3-4 ODAC) will travel on Saturday to compete in the first round of the ODAC Tournament with a team and a site to be announced by the conference later in the week.
