#23 LC Women's Soccer Defeats Guilford 5-0
Hornets' Post Ninth-Straight Win
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's soccer team, ranked #23 this week in the NCAA Division III poll, defeated visiting Guilford College 5-0 Wednesday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
Brittany Klippstein scored the game's first goal 17 minutes into the contest from about 30 yards out, drilling the ball into the top left hand corner of the net. The Quaker defense kept the lead to just one the remainder of the half.
Sophomore Angela Bosco added a goal from Shelley Hoath with 37:40 remaining in the contest and scored again less than a minute later after collecting a loose ball in the box. Freshman Dessi Dupuy notched the Hornets' fourth tally of the afternoon from senior Joanie Snyder with 30 minutes remaining and she found the back of again seven minutes later.
Amy Baker made 11 saves for Guilford (8-4-2/3-1-2 ODAC). LC out-shot the Quakers 21-0 and held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
After starting the season 2-2, the Hornets have won nine-straight contests, outscoring their foes 63-2 over that span. Dupuy started the week by leading NCAA Division III in goals while Snyder led in assists, now totaling 22 and 12 in those categories, respectively.
The Hornets (11-2/6-0 ODAC) travel to Washington & Lee University Saturday at 11 a.m. in another ODAC contest.
