#12 Lynchburg Women's Soccer Defeats Washington & Lee, Advances to ODAC Finals
LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore Angela Bosco netted the only goal on Wednesday as first-seeded Lynchburg College defeated fifth-seeded Washington & Lee University 1-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament semi-final round.
With the win, Lynchburg advances to the ODAC Championship game on Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan College.
Bosco scored at 20:27 off a pass from senior Brittany Klippstein to give the Hornets the 1-0 advantage. The Lynchburg defense held firm, weathering four shots in the second-half from the Generals. Senior goalkeeper Jackie Bader made four saves total in the match.
Washington & Lee (13-4-2) goalkeeper Emily Leary made four saves in the game. Lynchburg outshot the Generals 20-5.
Lynchburg will host the ODAC Championship game on Saturday at a time to be determined. Second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan defeated Roanoke College 2-0 on Wednesday to advance to the championship game. The game will be a rematch of the dramatic 2010 ODAC Championship in which both teams tied 2-2, with Lynchburg advancing on penalty kicks.
