Lynchburg Defeats Virginia Wesleyan 1-0 for ODAC Title
Earns Automatic Bid to NCAA Division III Tournament

LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior Brittany Klippstein scored the game's only goal as the Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday 1-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship game. The Hornets captured their second-consecutive ODAC title.

With the win, Lynchburg earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. 

Both teams played a tough first half, featuring a Virginia Wesleyan shot that hit the crossbar, but was gathered in by senior goalie Jackie Bader.

Klippstein broke through at 34:10 of the first half with a goal after beating two defenders in the midfield to score the game's only tally. The Hornets had several good scoring chances in the second half, but the Marlin defense kept it a one-goal game. 

Erica Keil made nine saves in the game for Virginia Wesleyan (18-3). Lynchburg held the advantage in shots (23-2) and in corner kicks (11-3). The ODAC crown is the 10th in program history and fourth in the last five years.

The top-seeded Hornets had an impressive run through the tournament, especially on the defensive end. Unscored upon in three victories, Hornet opponents managed just nine shots.
 
Lynchburg (19-2-1) now awaits the selection for the NCAA Division III Tournament. The tournament field will be announced on Monday afternoon. Full details will be available at http://athletics.lynchburg.edu.
