Klippstein Scores Twice as LC Defeats Salisbury 2-1

SALEM, VA – Senior midfielder Brittany Klippstein scored two second-half goals as the Lynchburg College women's soccer team rallied for a 2-1 win over Salisbury University at the Roanoke College Invitational Saturday.

The contest was an important one for the regional rankings, as LC entered the weekend ranked fifth in the South Atlantic Region and the Sea Gulls were seventh. Salisbury struck first however, as Morgan Brasch corralled a lob pass from Kristin Butzke and found the back of the net at the 30:21 mark of the first half. SU out-shot the Hornets 3-2 in the first half and each team had one corner kick, but the second half would prove much different.

Klippstein wasted little time, scoring just 33 seconds after intermission, to tie the score. She netted the game winner from Joanie Snyder with 19 minutes left in the contest. The Hornets outshot the Sea Gulls 12-0 in the second half.

For the game, LC had 14 shots to Salisbury's three and also held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Michelle Conrad made seven saves.

The Hornets (2-1) face the fourth-ranked team in NCAA Division III and the top one in the region, Emory University, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
