Lynchburg Volleyball Defeats Bridgewater 3-1

BRIDGEWATER, VA – Three Lynchburg College volleyball players recorded double-digit kills as the Hornets defeated Bridgewater College 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-19) in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match on Friday night.

Junior Rachel Huffman, freshman Aricquel Payne and junior Rebecca Loftis all registered over 13 kills in the win for LC. Huffman had 13 kills off 22 attempts; Loftis notched 16 kills while Payne knocked 17 kills in the win.

Bridgewater took the first set 25-21, but Lynchburg would rebound to win the next three sets and move their record to 7-1 on the season and 2-0 in the ODAC.

Freshman Casey Parrish recorded nine kills and finished with 14 digs as well. Payne and junior Molly Deacon tied for a team-high 15 digs each.  Junior setter Brooke Moughon had a team-high 29 assists while junior Rachel Turk chipped in 17.

Katie Long and Mara Hogan each had 12 kills to lead the Eagles (6-2/0-1 ODAC).

Lynchburg heads to Eastern Mennonite University tomorrow for another ODAC match at 4 p.m.
