Hornet Women Defeat Bridgewater 2-0
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated visiting Bridgewater College 2-0 Wednesday evening in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-up.
Freshman Dessi Dupuy scored the game's first tally, an unassisted goal, at 29:10 to put LC ahead 1-0. Senior Jessica Mader found the back of the net just four seconds before intermission on an assist from Brittany Klippstein to give Lynchburg a two-goal cushion at the break. The Hornets outshot the Eagles 13-4 in the opening half.
Both teams threatened to score in the second half, but the keepers played well to keep the ball out of the net. Bridgewater net-minder Mackenzie Gates made nine saves overall, while her counterpart Jackie Bader made seven stops. Lynchburg held a 25-12 advantage in shots for the game while each team took four corner kicks. Bridgewater falls to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the ODAC, while LC improves to 5-2 and 2-0 in league play.
The Hornets host Southern Virginia University Saturday at 4 p.m. in non-conference action as a part of Parents and Family Weekend.
