LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College freshman Dessi Dupuy scored five goals Wednesday leading the women's soccer team to a 9-0 victory over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Eastern Mennonite University.
Dupuy's five goals ties a school record for most goals in a game and she now leads the NCAA Division III in points (33) and is tied for first in goals (14).
Senior Brittany Klippstein started off the scoring for the Hornets with a goal at 3:20 assisted by senior Jessie Mader. Dupuy scored the second goal at 6:50, while sophomore Angela Bosco recorded a goal at 25:16 of the first half and was assisted by senior Beverly Hoath. Dupuy chipped in another goal at 35:23 to make the score 4-0.
Coming out of the gates in the second half Mader fired a goal at 45:40 to make it 5-0. Dupuy tagged the next three goals of the game within seven minutes of each other with the first coming at 55:59 with the assist by sophomore Tori Dott. Sophomore Jenn Snyder capped off the last goal at 85:03 with an assist from freshman Dana Nelsen for a final score of 9-0.
Goalkeeper Jenni Beck for EMU (0-10/0-4 ODAC) played all 90:00 for the Royals and recorded 13 saves.
The Hornet women (8-2/4-0 ODAC) will face off at Hollins on Saturday, October 1 at 2 p.m.
