Hornets Fight to Scoreless Tie at Virginia Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The #11 Lynchburg College women's soccer team fought hard for two hours at #14 Virginia Wesleyan, fending off 12 Marlin shots for a 0-0 tie in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams.

Both teams were predicted to finish first and second in the ODAC preseason poll.

Senior goalie Audrey Moore made four saves on the night, including one with 34 seconds remaining in the second overtime session.

Fouls remained even throughout the match, ending with one more for Virginia Wesleyan, 11-10. The Marlins also collected more offside calls, 5-1. Virginia Wesleyan also took the only three corner kicks.

LC was outshot in the game 12-5, but managed three shots on goal as opposed to four by the Marlins. Erica Keil made three saves on the Hornet shots.

Lynchburg College (4-0-1, 0-0-1 ODAC) travel to Sweet Briar on Saturday, September 15 for a 11:00 a.m. start.
