#8 Lynchburg Cruises to 4-0 Victory over Southern Virginia
LYNCHBURG, VA – The eighth-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team got off to a fast start, scoring two goals in the first ten minutes on pace to a 4-0 victory over Southern Virginia University Friday night.
Angela Bosco started the action with her third goal in as many games when she found the back of the net off a Jade Woll assist.
The Hornets kept the pressure on the visiting Knights, forcing a turnover in deep in SVU territory where Dessi Dupuy could take advantage for her second goal of the season.
Lynchburg tacked on one more score late in the first half when Morgan Singer sent a shot past the Southern Virginia keeper, MaKenzie Cox.
The Hornets pulled away in the second half when Kelley Smith netted her first career goal with 20 minutes remaining in the contest.
The trio of Lynchburg keepers: Karsen Schottleutner (2), Tess Frelick (1), and Brooke Thompson (1) all collected saves against the Knights.
Cox made eight saves for Southern Virginia. Lynchburg had a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks as well.
Lynchburg (3-0) hosts Averett University (1-2) Sunday night at 7 p.m.
