Hornet Volleyball Scores Two Wins at JHU Tournament

BALTIMORE, MD – The Lynchburg College volleyball team picked up its first two victories of the season Friday at the Johns Hopkins University Greg Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament.

The Hornets defeated Gwynedd Mercy 25-18, 25-10, 25-10 in the opener. Sophomore Sierra Strathy drilled eight kills and added four blocks. Amanda Perry added seven kills in only nine attempts and added eight digs. Jennifer Garrett and Mackenzie Ross each had six kills and Gabby Myers had five services aces.

Strathy again led the Hornets with 10 kills in the second game against North Carolina Wesleyan College, a 25-21, 25-11, 25-14 LC victory. Garrett had eight kills, while Mackenzie Ross had 18 assists and Gabby Myers had 15. Aricquel Payne and Sam Page each had seven digs.

The Hornets (2-4) are scheduled to play two more matches Saturday at JHU.
