Hornets Jump on WildCats Early en route to 10-0 Victory
LYNCHBURG, VA – The #6 Lynchburg College women's soccer team scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the game, as they beat crosstown rival Randolph College 10-0 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-up on Wednesday night.
LC opened quickly, with Angela Bosco scoring off a Kelly Smith pass at the 2:11 mark. The second goal, while not by a Hornet, was caused by Lynchburg as Bosco sent a cross into the box for Dessi Dupuy, but it deflected off a WildCat into the back of the net.
It took several minutes later, but Smith added to the LC lead in the 20th minute with her third goal of the year. With less than 15 minutes left in the half, Samantha Bagherpour and Hannah Olds added to the lead, with Camille Bartley assisting on the latter. Morgan Singer added a tally of her own in the 40th minute, to give LC a 6-0 advantage going into the half.
After the intermission, the Hornets added a few more scores to put the game out of reach. Bosco and Dupuy each added a goal and the helper for the other forward. Sarah Schrader scored on a header off an assist from Bagherpour, and Emily Maxwell notched her first career goal off a pass from Smith.
Quinn-Lynn Bates made 17 saves in the loss for RC (4-6 overall, 1-4 ODAC). The Hornets controlled the entire game taking 43 shots and 13 corners, while the WildCats did not attempt either.
Lynchburg (10-0, 5-0) continues its homestand on Saturday afternoon against ODAC rival Shenandoah University. First kick is at 2 p.m.
