Moore Scores Late as Hornets Beat W&L 1-0

LEXINGTON, VA – Senior forward Luke Moore broke a scoreless tie with less than 10 minutes left on the game clock to lift the Lynchburg College men's soccer team to a 1-0 Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory Saturday at Washington & Lee University.

The team's fourth-straight victory puts LC in second place in the conference standings with a 5-1 mark (8-4 overall), while the Generals fall to the middle of the pack with a 3-3 record (8-3). In three October ODAC games, LC has yet to be scored upon.

W&L was whistled for a fall in the box with only 9:26 left in the game, giving the Hornets a penalty kick that Moore would capitalize on. Sam Cannon started in net for Lynchburg and made one save in 18 minutes of play. He gave way to Scott Zaring, who made three saves in his 72 minutes and picked up the win between the pipes.

LC held a 16-13 edge in total shots, while the hosts had an 11-5 advantage in corner kicks. Albert Civitarese had eight saves in goal for W&L.  Patrick Barry led the way offensively for the Generals  with four shots.

The Hornets look to continue their streak Wednesday at home against Virginia Wesleyan College at 7 p.m.
