LC Men's Soccer Sweeps Weekend, Downs Case Western Reserve 2-0
SALEM, VA – The Lynchburg College men's soccer team won its second game in as many days on Saturday, downing Case Western Reserve University 2-0 in the Roanoke Invitational.
Lynchburg attacked quickly as Dan Jobrack found Luke Moore for the 1-0 lead just over 12 minutes into the match. The Hornets pressured Case Western Reserve the entire first half, ripping seven shots while forcing Frank Candau to save two balls.
The Spartan keeper made three more saves in the second half, but Lynchburg collected an insurance tally in the 78th minute. Josh Hinkle corralled the ball and sent it in front of the net where Moore headed it past Candau for the insurance tally and his third goal of the 2014 campaign.
Lynchburg outshot Case Western Reserve (0-1-1) 15-2 while leading 5-1 in corner kicks.
Scott Zaring picked up his first career Lynchburg shutout after transferring in from Southern Virginia University.
Lynchburg (2-0) will play host in the Shellenberger Memorial Classic next weekend. The Hornets will face Olgethorpe University (1-0) at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 6.
