Hornet Volleyball Drops Two Matches at Berry Invite
ROME, GA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team faced two tough opponents at the Berry College Invitational Tournament Sunday, Depauw University (IN) and the host school Berry.
Depauw scored a 25-19, 25-16, 25-18 victory over Lynchburg in the day's early match. Aricquel Payne had a team-best six kills and Amanda Perry had five. Gabby Myers and Lynn Walsh posted seven and six assists, respectively, while Sam Page and Brittany Crawford each had eight digs.
Mary Kate Etling paced the Tigers (2-1) with 12 kills.
The Hornets dropped a hard-fought 27-25, 25-20, 25-22 decision to Berry, despite eight kills and three blocks from Jenifer Garrett. Perry slammed seven and Payne added six kills and six digs. Mackenzie Ross had a team-high 10 digs and Page contributed 15 digs while Crawford had 11.
Emily Stromberg hit 13 kills for Berry (2-1).
Page was selected to the all-tournament team.
Lynchburg (1-3) will compete in the University of Mary Washington Tournament next Friday and Saturday.
