W&L Volleyball Rallies for Five-Set Win over LC

LEXINGTON, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team took the match to five sets, but eventually fell 21-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-16, 15-9 Wednesday evening at two-time defending conference champion Washington & Lee University in the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match of the season for both teams.

Senior Aricquel Payne blasted a match-high 18 kills for LC with eight digs. Amanda Perry tallied nine kills and three blocks and Sierra Strathy delivered seven kills, four blocks and two service aces. Lynn Walsh posted 32 assists and Brittany Crawford had a team-high 16 digs.

Mackenzie Shand had 16 kills and three blocks to lead the Generals (11-1/1-0 ODAC). Anna Lausberg and Kasey Cannon each hit 11 kills while Alex Kinzer had 40 assists.   

The Hornets head west this weekend for two ODAC matches, Friday evening at Hollins University (6:30 p.m.) and Saturday afternoon at Roanoke College (1 p.m.)
