Men's Soccer Collects First ODAC Road Win Over EMU
HARRISONBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's soccer team picked up its first road Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win of the 2014 season with a 2-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite University Saturday evening.
It was the first conference road match of the year for the Hornets and ends a two-match losing streak for LC while pulling Lynchburg over the .500 mark for the third time this season.
Bryan Hall continued his impressive freshman campaign on Saturday. A solid defender, Hall chipped a ball up over the keeper's head from the left side for his first career goal at 38:20.
Lynchburg extended the lead midway through the second half when, at 70:55, Dan Jobrack found Tim Clancy who rifled his third goal of the season into the back of the net.
Mark Mast scored eight minutes later when he managed to draw out the Lynchburg goalie, cutting the Royal deficit to one. The Hornet defense held the rest of the way to preserve the victory.
Lynchburg outshot Eastern Mennonite 25-10 and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Andrew Yoder made six saves for EMU (3-5-2/0-3) while Sam Cannon made four for the Hornets to earn his first career victory in net.
Lynchburg (5-4/2-1) hosts Shenandoah University (3-7/0-3) Saturday for a 7 p.m. start in ODAC action.
