LC VB Splits Two Matches at UMW Invite

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team split a pair of matches in four sets Saturday at the University of Mary Washington Invitational, finishing 2-2 in the two-day event.

The Hornets defeated Manchester University (IN) 3-1 in the opener behind 11 kills and eight digs from senior Aricquel Payne. Mackenzie Ross contributed 10 kills, nine assists and six digs and Gabby Myers posted 20 assists and 14 digs. Sierra Strathy drilled eight kills with no errors in only 14 attempts with seven blocks and two service aces. Sam Page added 22 digs.

Christopher Newport University, ranked #19 in NCAA Division III this week, defeated LC 3-1. Payne hit 13 kills with nine digs, and Amanda Perry had nine kills. Brittany Crawford tallied seven kills and eight digs, Lynn Walsh had a team-high 15 assists and Page had 18 digs.

The Hornets (3-5) travel to Tennessee next weekend for four matches at the Maryville Invitational.
