Hornet Volleyball drops to Emory and Henry 3-0
Lynchburg, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team lost Wednesday night to Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Emory and Henry College 25-21, 25-16, and 25-23.
In the first set the Hornets and Wasps traded points throughout, until Emory and Henry took the lead to win the set. The Wasps came out strong in the second set and were able to seal a 25-16 victory. The final set was close all the way to the end, with E&H pulling out a narrow 25-23 victory to win the match.
Jen Garrett led the Hornets with 11 kills, while Amelia Dalton had seven kills to go along with a .429 hitting percentage and 11 digs. Kelly Layne tallied five digs for LC, while Lynn Walsh posted a game-high 24 assists. Sam Page and Maral Tsolmon had eight and six digs respectively.
Kate Franklin had 10 kills and a .600 hitting percentage for the Wasps (10-10/3-3 ODAC), while Kennady Thomason and Tori Holmberg each tallied seven kills. Sarah Scott contributed 20 assists and Tristen Pennington had 16. Emily Hinshaw posted a game-high 18 digs and Hannah Doss added nine for E&H.
The Hornets (6-11/2-5) will return back to action on Friday night when they travel to Hollins University for a 6 p.m. ODAC matchup. LC will then travel to ODAC rival Roanoke College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. match.
