LC Women Breeze to 10-0 win over EMU on Senior Night
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's soccer team opened a big early lead and breezed to a 10-0 victory Friday night against Eastern Mennonite University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest. The Hornets' six seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony on Senior Night.
LC scored four times in the game's opening five minutes. Hannah Olds knocked in a rebound off a Jade Woll shot just 1:41 into play, and Mary Beier followed with an unassisted goal a minute later. Morgan Singer scored her first of three goals at 3:31 from Olds and Woll found the back of the net at the 4:44 mark. Sarah Schrader headed in a corner kick from Marina Clark and Singer received a pass from Olds behind the EMU defense for the Hornets' sixth goal. Brooke Kowalski ended the first half scoring with LC ahead 7-0.
Caitlin Mertens scored back-to-back goals and Singer also had a second-half tally, while Christine Domecq and Kennedy Jakubek posted assists.
Singer ended the game with a hat trick, while Olds had a goal and two assists. Mertens had two goals and Woll contributed a goal and an assist.
EMU (1-12/0-6 ODAC) goalkeeper Becca Borg made 16 saves. Lynchburg outshot the Royals 37-3 and held a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Hornets (15-1/8-0 ODAC) travel to Christopher Newport University for a non-conference match Sunday at 6 p.m.
