Hornet VB Plays at Mary Washington Tri-Match

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team competed at a tri-match Saturday at the University of Mary Washington.

LC dropped the first contest in four games to Marymount University (17-7). Senior Kelly Layne slammed a team-high 12 kills, followed by Jen Garrett with 11. Mesa Willis and Sam Page each posted 19 digs, while Lynn Walsh collected 15 assists and nine digs. Gabby Myers had 14 assists and 11 digs.

The host Eagles of UMW (19-6) defeated LC 25-20, 25-15, 25-23 despite eight kills and 15 digs from Garrett. Payne had six kills, Walsh had 14 assists and Willis and Page had 10 and nine digs, respectively.

The Hornets (8-14) close out the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular season with a home match Wednesday against Randolph College at 7 p.m. The program's three seniors will be honored for their contributions in a pre-match ceremony on Senior Night.
