Bryan Hall Strikes Late to Give LC Men's Soccer 1-0 win over Guilford
LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore midfielder Bryan Hall broke a scoreless tie late in the game to give the Lynchburg College men's soccer team an important 1-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Guilford College.
LC controlled most of the action in the first half and for the first 34 minutes of the second half, but couldn't convert. At the 79:29 mark, junior Thomas Salamone lifted a long crossing pass to Hall, who headed it in for the game's only tally.
The Quaker defense hung tough despite Lynchburg holding large advantages in shots (21-6) and corner kicks (9-1). Guilford (5-11/2-8 ODAC) keeper Eric Hayes made six saves to keep his team in the game. Cory Budka made four stops to earn his eighth shutout on the season.
The Hornets (9-4-3/5-2-3 ODAC) travel to Emory & Henry College Saturday for their final ODAC match of the season at 6 p.m. Lynchburg currently sits in fourth place in the conference standings and could move up with a win.
